| Ok. something bad has happened. any guesses on what? engine died on the highway the other day. Timing belt is of unknown age but appears to be in excellent condition. no cracking, visible teeth look fine. It hasnt snapped, but is definitely not tensioned as it should be. right now the cams (i didnt check passenger side) are not moving (much) now my question is... Is there anyway to check for valve damage with tearing it down?
What would you guys do? a timing belt job, and hope for the best, or just assume that the valves are jacked? Any way to tell? cranking the car sounds pretty normal.
